cheer's to the new year
Sunday. The most bittersweet day of every week, for me that is. The sweet would be that I get to spend a full day with mum and the bitter being that it signifies the end of my fun and that uni is right around the corner... Don't get me too wrong, I do really love going to uni and the challenge of constantly keeping up to date (I'm a chapter behind in prices and markets as I type this but BAH) with uni work but sometimes I feel like the days past way way waaaay too fast. However, last Sundays bittersweet moods were elevated when mum decided that we go pay Supernormal a visit. What's Supernormal, you ask? Recommended by my amazing aunt, it's a fine dining restaurant with a sharing plate concept and the food there is definitely of a supernormal quality. From the moment you step in, you just feel like you've been transported to a little classy corner of Tokyo with waiters and waitresses looking like they've stepped out of a Kinfolk mag paired with a perfect minimalist ambiance. steamed scallops, tossed in xo sauce Picked Spanner Crab salad, Cabbage Hearts, watercress, Miso DressingNew England lobster rollPrawn & chicken dumplings, chilli & vinegar sauce 6pcMuch love to everyone,
Sharing some Saturday shennanigans with my stunning mamabear as we caught a train down to South Yarra, looking to satisfy our tummies with some Vietnamese fare. I always look forward to spending quality time with my mum during the weekends, especially since uni has been really stressful lately and quite frankly, I feel like I'm falling behind and that my head is constantly on the verge of explosion. Anyhoo, Our trip down to South Yarra was actually to attend a property viewing on behalf of papabear so I decided to do some sloothin on trusty Broadsheet to see if there were any cute lunch spots that we could go to. Also, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to try out my shiny new GoPro and join the vlogging band wagon, documenting my everyday adventures. What I had managed to stumble upon: MissChu, The Queen of Rice Paper Rolls. *New found fact: Srirachaaa-a-a-aa, is truly and utterly amazing.* Miss Chu's is catered towards more of a 'tar-pao' and home delivery crowd but diners are welcome to go through to the back of the restaurant where you'll find larger tables and table service. Please don't cry at the amateur editing/videography, I promise to improve! But for now, do enjoy a short clip of compiled videos from today. Clockwise from the left: Asian Vegetable Dumplings w/ Garlic and Chive (Vegan), Prawn Dumplings, Prawn and Green Mango Rice Rolls, Shanghai Pork Dumplings, Char Siew Bao and Choi Bao (the secret to winning my heart, lol) Impulse order: Frozen young coconut juice w/ pineapple. Albeit being slightly pricey, it was truly yummy yummy in my tummy (esp you sriracha, ily.)
